WiP Wednesday (01/15/25)

Ooof, this week is already off to a heavy start. The news, the stress some of my friends are under, the California fires, still more of the news.... it's been a good week to lose myself in handbuilding, in the studio. Getting into "the zone" is calming.

In ceramics, I'm spending as much time at the handbuilding table as I can. I'm also getting ready to do a big glazing run, so I can fire the kiln and get some things restocked. I'm tentatively looking at January 31st for the next shop update - cross your fingers!

In yarn, I'm getting ready to dye this month's club yarn. I really struggled with a theme for this year - I second and third guessed every idea I came up with. Thankfully, after talking with a friend, I was able to narrow it down, did some research, and have come up with a positive, topical idea. I'll do a blog post about it soon!

Social Media is a little crazy these days. I'm thinking about resurrecting my old Discord server, for anyone who's migrating off of Facebook/Instagram but still wants to keep in touch and join in group conversations. I have clearly not had enough coffee yet this morning because I've been googling how to link to my new Pixelfed account, and my old Discord server, and I can't figure out either (surely it's not enough coffee in my system, and not that I'm too old for technology....!) (right? ..... right???) (I mean, linking to a profile is pretty basic Internet 101 stuff! What's my damage?!). Anyway, as soon as I figure out how to link to my profile on those two places, I'll add them to my LinkTree.

Behind the scenes, I'm trying to spend a little time every day clearing out space in my studio (I have a tendency to make piles of things "to get to later" and then just move those piles from place to place as they're in my way)... and also in my house! I've been doing some repotting of plants this week, and also playing around with the bread machine I got for Christmas. I made some sunflower seed bread that is PERFECTION and I am going to need a loaf of that on hand at all times. Mmmmmmmmm.

In HaldePets, everyone is extra super snuggly - yes, even more than usual - with the cold weather we've been having. Newt is even braving being near Honey Butter at night, so she can sleep on me, and Moya has been sleeping next to or even on Peppa Potato whenever Peps stops moving (and she loves to snuggle all the time, so she's 100% down with Moya's attention.

That's about it for this week, for me. How are you? What are you working on? What are you doing with your free time? Do you even have any free time? If you don't, how can you make some for yourself this week - downtime is good for the brain, you know. What are you reading/watching/listening to? Sigh. If the news is affecting you like it is so many of my friends, I hope you're able to find moments of peace here and there.

Have a good week, y'all. Peace out!
